Method TryToGeoSolid3

Namespace
GeometryHelper.TeklaConvert
Assembly
GeometryHelper.TeklaConvert.dll

TryToGeoSolid3(ISolid, out GeoSolid3)

Converts a Tekla solid, using the default tolerance.

public static bool TryToGeoSolid3(this ISolid solid, out GeoSolid3 result)

Parameters

solid ISolid

The Tekla solid to convert.

result GeoSolid3

The converted body when the method returns true.

Returns

bool

true if the solid was successfully converted; false otherwise.

TryToGeoSolid3(ISolid, out GeoSolid3, Tolerance)

Converts a Tekla solid, within a tolerance.

public static bool TryToGeoSolid3(this ISolid solid, out GeoSolid3 result, Tolerance tolerance)

Parameters

solid ISolid

The Tekla solid to read.

result GeoSolid3

The converted body when the method returns true.

tolerance Tolerance

The tolerance; its planar threshold decides how far from flat a face may be and still come as one face. The default is a hundredth of a millimetre; a face further out, as Tekla's own cuts leave some, comes as triangles on its own corners.

Returns

bool

false when too little survived to make a body of at least four faces.

Remarks

Each face is read with TryReadFaces(Face, Tolerance, out GeoFace3[]): one face where it lies flat, and triangles on the corners Tekla gave where it does not or where a hole stands off its plane, so a solid Tekla holds closed comes out closed, whatever the tolerance. Only a face with no area — fewer than three distinct corners, or all of them in a line — is skipped rather than thrown on, because one bad face in a large model should not cost the whole conversion; ask IsClosed() before trusting a volume.
