ProjectToFace(GeoFace2, GeoPoint2)

Gets the point of the boundary of a face nearest another point.

public static GeoPoint2 ProjectToFace(GeoFace2 face, GeoPoint2 point)

Parameters

face GeoFace2
point GeoPoint2

Returns

GeoPoint2

ProjectToFace(GeoFace2, GeoPoint2, Tolerance)

Gets the point of the boundary of a face nearest another point, within a tolerance.

public static GeoPoint2 ProjectToFace(GeoFace2 face, GeoPoint2 point, Tolerance tolerance)

Parameters

face GeoFace2

The face.

point GeoPoint2

The point; it may lie on the material, in a hole, or off the face altogether.

tolerance Tolerance

The tolerance.

Returns

GeoPoint2

The nearest point of the outline or of a hole rim, whichever is nearer.

Remarks

The boundary of a face is its outline and the rim of every hole, so a point sitting in a hole is answered with a point of that rim. As with a polygon, the answer is always on the boundary, which is where this parts company with Distance2: that reads a face as filled and calls a point on the material nought away.

Exceptions

ArgumentNullException

Thrown when the face is null.
